Just can’t believe, we are starting into our third month of this Rotary year, remembering July 1st as I started on this adventure. The Governor visits are going wonderfully, and the responses to my visits have been nothing but exceptional. Never realized how many good friends I had made in my 29 years as being part of our District.
In the last two months I have visited 21 clubs and learned much about all the wonderful projects our members are involved with. Had a chance to visit Branchville and Newton Clubs at the Sussex County Fair. What dedication these Rotarians have in working their booths for ten days and 10 hours per day, promoting Rotary and raising funds for all their projects.
The 38th year of the Ross Redmond Short Term Exchange program with Japan has also come to an end. I remember when my own club Jefferson first got started hosting one of the days back in 1993. The excitement of taking all these students and leaders has not changed any in the past 23 years. Thank you to all our host families, and all our clubs who either support a day or an event of this program. As special thank you to Susan Allison, PDGs Barry and Jim for being the engine of this program which makes it run so smoothly. Can’t forget our translator for New York Day, thank you Chiaki!
Another successful turn out for Camp Merry Heart, thank you to Bob Markman for chairing the event. Again without the support and hard work of our Rotarians and clubs we would not be able accomplish any of these.
As we get ready for the fall and to celebrate Labor Day, please keep in mind our upcoming events. The new season of the District Bowling league starts on September 6th at Boonton Lanes. There’s still time to join our league or just be a cheerleader. The Vocational Assembly on October 5th at the Pines Manor, WALKFEST on October 9th which will be held at Loantaka Brook Reservation in Morris Township, and last but not least the celebration of our club Presidents’ at the Foundation/ Presidents Ball November 18th at Mayfair Farms.
Don’t forget to check out all the clubs’ Facebook pages and even our District page, lots of happenings can be found there including our monthly Rotary Breakfast Mingle. Next one scheduled for September 17th at the Hibernia Diner 7:30 AM. (yes 7:30 AM)
Till the next chapter, remember….
