That lilting Swedish voice you hear wafting over the Walkfest committee meetings originates from none other than Eva-Pia Reich, a member of the Morristown Rotary Club, and Chair of the district’s Walkfest Committee.

Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Pia came to the United States (and New Jersey) in her 20’s. After college, she spent 15 years teaching and doing research at Yale Medical School.  She returned to NJ in the 1990’s to work in research with Shearing-Plough Pharmaceuticals.

After her retirement from the pharmaceutical industry, Pia joined the Peace Corps, spending three years in Kenya where she was a teacher, started a pig farm, founded a maternity clinic and established a trust to fund scholarships for girls to attend high school. (Whew!!!!)

Returning once again to New Jersey in 2010, Pia joined the Denville Sunrise Rotary Club. When her new career as a public school substitute teacher interfered with attending morning Rotary meetings, she joined the Morristown Club.

Pia has three sons: Peter, a surgeon, Adam, a college professor and Davin, a social worker in New York City.
