For New Members
"From the Heart"
This month I would like to take the time to thank all those who made an effort to attend the conference where we had over 300 people in the course of four days up in Vernon, New Jersey.
The golf outing on Thursday had over 100 participants, beautiful weather, and a great course. A good time was had by all. Thank you to Bob Mikovich and Carol Johnson for making everything work without a hitch.
The conference started on Friday with great speakers, amazing entertainment, and a real sense of fellowship. Throughout the weekend we heard about the great Rotary projects, things happening in our communities which we can help out with, and how Rotary can change to become more appealing for younger members.
The Foundation Dinner honored those who have contributed to the Rotary Foundation throughout the year as well as outstanding Rotarians that have served our District and the Rotary world for a lifetime.
Many awards were given to clubs that did an outstanding job this Rotary year. Their efforts make them examples for the entire district and “Gifts to the World”.
Beyond those who attended we would like to take this time to thank all the members of the conference committee for their hard work and dedication. A very special thanks to Jan Lawler the conference registrar and Carol Johnson the conference chairman outstanding job. Without the efforts of these Rotarians there could not be a district conference.
Lastly, the Rotarians of the Phillipsburg Rotary club, 15 of which attended the conference and provided services such as registration, speakers aids, set up, and clean up. Throughout this Rotary year they have provided support and encouragement, without this kind of club support it would be impossible for District Governor to do the job. Thank you, thank you all, what a great experience!
